Dr. Ashish says I'm responding really well during the spinal procedures - my responses are better/stronger than last time and include sensations all over my body… This indicates the stem cells are getting where they need to go in my mutilated spinal cord... those little cells, they just have a huge job to perform, so I haven't seen anything huge and consistent yet. My thumb will move for two days and then stop for a day... my big toes will wiggle for an afternoon and stop... I’ve got a few new spots of sensation on my left leg and right foot… the flickers in my legs are much stronger when I try to move my legs – I can feel them internally and they can be felt externally… overall I'm stronger and progress is coming (my broken ankle is healed too) along. Oh yeah, I don’t know if I ever re-capped my crappy summer. Lol, I will when it rains.. Below is a email from Lola. =) SLD

We have been here since August 31st and have had mucho trouble getting online. Shannon finally bought a broadband service and she used it up within 4 days of use. We didn't realize it was a "prepaid" service and she downloaded a bunch of movies-lol. So we are now using another patients access that is not limited and having much better success getting on, still, the service is sporadic at best.
Shannon has had two major treatments (close to the spinal cord), one IV infusion, two deep muscle injections along side the site of injury, and daily shots in her arms or legs.
Epidural - an injection inserted into the outer sheath of the spinal cord close to the site of injury. She felt responses on left side and hand. Her left thumb is moving now and gaining strength and speed of response. The PT and OT work on her arms and hands everyday. I can see her muscles gaining bulk too, small bulk, but it definitely is gain.
Caudal - this is an injection in the cauda equina near the coccyx. Shannon had three injections and felt heaviness and sensation on her right side and tingling shooting sensations on her left during all three. She felt this from her neck down. The sensation lasted about 30 minutes after the injections. Her response was stronger, faster, and lasted longer than the ones given during the first trip!
I AM GOING TO STOP NOW AND HELP SHANNON FOR A FEW MINUTES BUT WILL SEND BECAUSE I MAY GET KICKED OFFLINE. I WILL GET BACK TO IT LATER AND COMPLETE THE UPDATE.
WE LOVE YOU AND MISS ALL ya'll---------SORRY COULDN'T HELP THAT.
