I just returned home from my friend Tanya’s (and hubby Ian), wedding in Puerto Rico, it was absolutely beautiful and I am so happy I could be a part of it! Sharing their day with them was a wonderful experience. Thanks to my mom, the wedding party and some very kind wedding guests, I was able to get onto all the various modes of transportation and participate in all the activities. There may be pictures soon. Y’all all know how independent I am and how hard it is for me to ask/accept help, but I am glad it was there this time! And, I now know my travel days are not over. Don’t think I’m ready for another 36 hour trek to Sri Lanka or anything like that, but maybe Hawaii? =0
I started back to work part-time and am loving it. Although, it is really hard for a workaholic to work only 16 hours a week. I’m hoping to start increasing hours very soon.
So, we have diligently been working out arms, core and legs…. For the first time ever, I have triceps, big, defined ones (relatively speaking)… We are now making progress on my core work and I can feel my abs/back work, but there has not been any functional change. On legs, we have been using the FES bike, Power Plate, Nervous System Active Recruitment and Total Gym. I have had feeling of the muscles in my left leg, movement in my hips and pressure through my feet very, very, very gradually increasing (I mean at the pace of a 500 yr. old snail) and a bit of feeling in the right leg muscles which comes and goes.
So, now that we are planning to go back to Project Walk in July, I finally got around to posting January Project Walk pictures in case y’all are interested. =0
I'll be on the June 10th episode of FX's "30 Days" Show.
The episode follows former Denver Bronco's player, Ray Crockett, as he lives in a wheelchair for 30 days. It was filmed in Dallas and featured a couple current and former Baylor patients, I'm one of those patients. I'm a little scared to let you all know b/c it could be freaky - I donno, I haven't seen it. Remember a few things... the holes in my hair are from surgery/the halo, there are NO make-up artists for documentaries, this was months ago - I am tons stronger now and I was in the hospital and heavily medicated - who knows what came out of my mouth!!
